Beauty, Defined

This is for the girl with the broken scale
Never telling the truth, just false tales
Adding numbers to her weight
Five pounds over, there's no way
She let it happen, she'd kept a good eye
On the digits that rule her life

This is for the girl who wishes for dreams
Always wanting to be beautiful, but she can't reach
Her goals when she thinks about giving up
Because of the pain, it's just too much
As the blade is drawn to her wrist
She ignores the voice resisting the risk

Beauty is seen as thin and no flaws
And covering gashes with a strip of gauze
Wishing for the fat to slide off your thighs
Soon you'll be too busy to even realize
Beauty isn't about pleasing everyone else
Beauty is just being true to yourself

Potential You

I want you to know
I don’t want you to go
I want you to see
Maybe we’re meant to be
I want to pretend it’s not happening
But I can hear my head screaming
You aren’t him, the man I wished
You could be, the one I dreamed of
You were different
Potential

You still haunt my dreams
And I wish you’d leave
I can’t move on
When I hear your song
Going through my head
Singing of our death instead
Of the life we knew
Potential you

I want to press rewind
And pretend everything’s fine
I don’t mind if you don’t heal
The thoughts I put into feelings
That I’m okay with being last
Looking through painted glass
Distorted because you still believe
I’d never leave you
I wish we could still continue
To be potential you

Anorexia Round Four!

Smiling stares make me aware
Of the thunder coming from under
The pants and you hear my fancy
Lies but you don't realize
That I never tell you truth when I can sell
You deceit, and trust me, it's cheap
I never say, but I don't play
By your rules, the fool
I am ruled by my own food
Counting numbers, keep it under
Eighty, sixty, seventy, fifty
When I get to hello, I'll be a nifty fellow
I'll be invisible, and I'll be invincible
Your numbers don't affect my bones
They will chip away like splintering ships
Break me down, let me drown
In the cold, let my body fold
Into layers, do me a favor
Is this melody becoming tragedy?
Because this love has taken hold of
Everything I always strive
To be because I can't see
My bones yet, ready, set
Go, race around the face
Of the earth, and whoever gets first
Gets pain, it's insane
Really, but Ana is a fan of
Making me want the thought
Of Thin, and everything within
Me will vanish until
I'm gone

Awaken

You awaken a side of me
I thought forever asleep
And I can’t seem to stay away
Longing to see your face again

You say you’ll stay
Don’t go away
Hold my hand
I understand
Watch the sky
I see you there
Flying high
I see you there

Your touch makes my knees go weak
I fall into your arms
You hold me close, then our lips meet
And I know where you are

Don’t leave my side, don’t let me go
Keep me alive, spirit float

To Carlee, With Love

Lift the burden, hold it high
Make yourself a sacrifice
Show your secrets, let them see
No matter what you do, you can’t escape from me
Make your statement, put brave face
Try and put me in my place
But turn your face and shut your eyes
Because you’ll never realize

The nightmare you dream
Isn’t what it seems
It sleeps in your head
I know it’s dead

Cry your tears, release the flow
Rid the love, just let it go
Find the blade, make a scar
Just above your pounding heart
Inhale deep, breathe in softly
Feel the temperature, it’s dropping
Ice is freezing, melting stone
But you will never be alone

You fed the monster in your thoughts
Dropping food from the sky
Finding the light that’s black as day
Saying what I’ve been saying
